Bulrush.

The hugely impressive bulrush in the wild is found growing beside lakes and ponds. The flowers are catkins, which gradually turn brown, releasing downy seeds that get wafted away on the breeze. They are commonly grown around sedge - a grass-like plant with triangular stems and inconspicuous flowers, growing typically in wet ground. Sedges are widely distributed throughout temperate and cold regions.
